Fantasy Waiver Wire Week 11: Latavius Murray, Keaton Mitchell among top pickups & free agent adds image

The waiver wire has been lukewarm over the past couple of weeks, but a quick glance at our top Week 11 fantasy waiver wire pickups and free agent adds lets you know things are heating up. This add/drop period will be busy before and after waivers clear around 4-5 a.m. ET on Wednesday mornings in most Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Our full waivers list features several impact RBs (Ty ChandlerDevin SingletaryKeaton MitchellRoyce Freeman, Lativius Murray) and WRs (Demario DouglasNoah BrownBrandin CooksJayden Reed). There are also some interesting QBs (Josh Dobbs) and TEs (Pat Freiermuth) who can help down the stretch. As always, we also have our usual complement of streamer suggestions at QB, TE, and D/ST, which can be found at the end of this list.

With several potential starting RBs available in over 50 percent of leagues, this figures to be a busy week on waivers. Plenty of high claims will be used, with Chandler and Singletary leading the way as one-week rentals who could possibly continue playing bigger roles down the stretch. Mitchell is the best long-term stash for fantasy owners eying the postseason, but he might not be the best producer in Week 11. Either way, these backs, along with Freeman, will all likely be in 12-team lineups this week.

We usually don't advise using high claims on QBs, WRs, and TEs at this point in the season, but it's likely someone will use a low claim on Brown, Cooks, Douglas, and maybe even Dobbs and Freiermuth. If you're desperate for a win to stay in the playoff race, do what you have to do to secure the players you need. Otherwise, those players are best suited for free agency, which should be a busy period this week.

Top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 11

Unless otherwise noted, only players owned in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues are considered.

Keaton Mitchell, RB, Ravens. Mitchell continued his late-season surge with 66 total yards and a TD on just four touches against Cleveland's elite defense. The touches are obviously a worry, but Mitchell upped his snap share from 18 percent in Week 9 to 24 percent in Week 10. Perhaps even more significant, Justice Hill's snap share dropped from 63 percent in Week 9 to just 26 percent last week. Mitchell seems like the clear No. 2 back, and his role will only continue to grow down the stretch. He's a solid flex on Thursday night against the Bengals.

Royce Freeman, RB, Rams. It's easy to forget about Freeman after the Rams bye, but the veteran back has at least one more week of flex value with Kyren Williams (ankle) still on IR. Despite Darrell Henderson starting and playing more snaps, Freeman has out-rushed him in each of the past three games. He's also had at least 10 touches in each of the past three contests, and in a favorable matchup against the Seahawks this week, Freeman has legit flex potential in 12-team leagues.

WEEK 11 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Latavius Murray, RB, Bills. It turns out news of Leonard Fournette's impact on the Bills' backfield was greatly exaggerated -- at least for now. Fournette didn't play on Monday night, allowing Murray to continue working as Buffalo's secondary runner and primary goal-line back. He responded with 68 yards and a TD on nine carries, and after starter James Cook fumbled twice and mishandled another handoff, it's possible Murray is ticketed for more duty soon. To be fair, the Bills stuck with Cook all game, and he rewarded them with 120 total yards. Still, it's clear Murray is their preferred option inside the 10-yard line. That gives him potential value in deep standard leagues, and Cook's seat will heat up again quickly if he fumbles again. Stash Murray ahead of a favorable matchup against the Jets.

Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers. Johnston actually received two fewer targets than teammate Jalen Guyton, who also scored a TD last week, but let's face it -- the 6-4 rookie is a more exciting pickup. Johnston hauled in all four of his looks for 34 yards and his first career score last week, and he played a season-high 85 percent of snaps. If Johnston has one more good game, his ownership will explode, so now's the time to grab him, especially with Keenan Allen nursing a sore shoulder.

WEEK 11 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Pat Freiermuth, TE, Steelers. Freiermuth (hamstring) has been out since Week 4, but he's set to return soon. Even if he's not ready for Week 11, it doesn't much matter because he wouldn't be a recommended play against the Browns anyway. Nonetheless, he's worth picking up for the stretch run, as he'll have favorable matchups in Weeks 12 (@ CIN), 15 (@ IND), and 16 (vs. CIN). Freiermuth didn't do much in his first four games, but he did manage two scores, so he can provide valuable depth at a notoriously thin position.
