Fantasy TE PPR Rankings Week 2: Who to start, sit at tight end in fantasy football image

If any position gets spared from "National Overreaction Week" in fantasy football, it's tight end. Everyone knows TE is a top-heavy position, and we also know that many TEs outside of the top eight or so can be touchdown-or-bust "sleepers" each week, so one week of results only means so much. That said, you better believe that one week of data does have some influence on our Week 2 fantasy TE PPR rankings.

Obviously, nothing happened in Week 1 that will change Travis Kelce (vs. Chargers), Mark Andrews (vs. Dolphins), George Kittle (vs. Seahawks), Darren Waller (vs. Cardinals), and Kyle Pitts (@ Rams) being somewhere in the top five when healthy. Thankfully, all but Kittle (groin) made it through Week 1 healthy and intact. Kittle was at least "questionable" leading up to Sunday's game, so we're hoping he can return this week.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kicker

Week 1 saw some surprising performances from O.J. Howard (@ Broncos), Tyler Conklin (@ Browns), and Gerald Everett (@ Chiefs), but the only one we're excited about is Everett -- and that's mainly because Keenan Allen (hamstring) is hurt, which should mean more targets. It's possible Week 1 was the start of season-long breakout campaigns for Howard and Conklin, but we need to see a little more from them until we put them in our top 12.

WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | D/ST | Kicker

Similarly, we don't want to react too strongly to Cole Kmet's (@ Packers), Mike Gesicki's (@ Ravens), Hunter Henry's (@ Steelers), and Irv Smith Jr.'s (@ Eagles) disappointing performances. Again, we see this all the time at TE -- even for the elite ones -- so there's no reason to give up on these guys. Fortunately, Henry and possibly Gesicki have what figure to be decent matchups (we think) this week, so they should get back on track. We're a little more worried about Dalton Schultz (vs. Bengals), who lost Dak Prescott (thumb) for the foreseeable future. He should still see a lot of targets, but his ceiling is capped by Dallas' likely lack of offensive firepower.

WEEK 2 FANTASY PICKS: Sleepers | BustsStart 'em, sit 'em

Of course, "matchups" are still largely an unknown at this position, so targets are the most important thing to look at this early in the season, especially in PPR leagues. Higbee (11), Conklin (7), and Hayden Hurst (8) stood out among borderline TEs in that department, but Higbee and Conklin took advantage of garbage time and Hurst had an entire overtime period. Targets can also yo-yo wildly at this position, so it will be interesting to see if these players see a similar number of looks in Week 2. At the very least, they should be involved around the goal line.

WEEK 2 DFS: Best values | Best stacks

Week 2 is tricky at every position, but with TE, it's pretty easy to just play your drafted starter and hope for the best. Chasing points from week to week often leads to frustration -- the higher-drafted guys were drafted higher for a reason. Every year there's at least one big TE breakout, so if you think you've found him, by all means ride the wave and try to keep the momentum going, but don't do it at the expense of a consistent, proven producer.
