Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Jonathan Taylor, Kyle Pitts, Dawson Knox affecting Week 6 rankings image

Fantasy football owners are turning the page to Week 6 and planning their latest waiver-wire pickups on some of the injuries we saw last week. Two particular players who have the interest of many fantasy owners are Colts RB Jonathan Taylor and Falcons TE Kyle Pitts, who both failed to suit up due to injuries. If both miss a second-straight week, it will affect the Week 6 RB and TE rankings and force fantasy owners into some tough start 'em, sit 'em decisions.

Below we'll give you the latest news on Taylor, Pitts, and Dawson Knox and break down how their injuries could potentially affect the Week 6 fantasy landscape. Jonathan Taylor injury update, Week 6 fantasy outlook

Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters after their game against the Broncos that the team is "optimistic" Taylor (ankle) could return for Week 6, according to beat writer Zak Keefer.

If Taylor can play against the Jaguars this Sunday, it would be a big boom to the Colts' struggling offense and fantasy owners. Taylor has not been able to duplicate this performance from last season, but he still garners attention anytime he's on the field. This season, the 23-year-old running back has 328 rushing yards and a touchdown. The last time Taylor faced the Jaguars in Week 2, he was held to 54 yards on nine carries and a nine-yard reception. If he is close to 100 percent, Taylor should be slotted in as your RB1. However, if he does not play along with Nyheim Hines (concussion), we could see Deon Jackson get the start in Week 6. Jackson had 91 total yards on 17 touches and would be a flex option in 12-team leagues.

Kyle Pitts injury update, Week 6 fantasy outlook

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith told reporters late last week Pitts' hamstring injury is not expected to be long-term, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein. Pitts did not play last Sunday on the road against the Buccaneers.

We will wait to see if Pitts practices a couple of times this week or is held out. Pitts has not been a factor in the Falcons' offense through the first five weeks this season. The former first-round pick only has 10 receptions (22 targets) for 150 yards and zero touchdowns. If he were to come back this week, Pitts would have a tough matchup vs. the 49ers' defense. San Francisco is only allowing 4.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, second-fewest in the entire NFL. If Pitts is out, some high-upside streamer options to look at are Irv Smith Jr. (@ Miami), Evan Engram (vs. Indianapolis), and Taysom Hill (vs. Cincinnati).

Dawson Knox injury update, Week 6 fantasy outlook

Knox (foot, hamstring) did not play in last week's game against the Steelers after failing to practice all week. Bills head coach Sean McDermott has not yet said what's Knox availability could be for this week's game against the Chiefs.

The Bills would love to have Knox for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, who have struggled to defend the tight end this season. Kansas City is allowing the 12th-most fantasy points per game to tight ends this season (10.7). Knox has yet to score a touchdown this season but always finds a way to have at least five targets. If he plays, Knox is a low-tier TE1 in fantasy, but you can't trust any of the Bills' backups at this point.
