Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Breece Hall, Chuba Hubbard affecting Week 8 waiver pickups image

With another NFL Sunday in the books, fantasy football owners are doing their weekly recap to sort through the injury carnage. On Sunday, two young running backs (Breece Hall and Chuba Hubbard) exited early after hot stars. While it seems like Hubbard avoided serious issues, Hall's diagnosis for the rest of the season does not look great. If Hall or Hubbard is out for Week 8, owners will have to check out the waiver wire once again to see what RB depth is left.

Below, we'll give you the latest news on these RBs and break down how their injuries could potentially affect the Week 8 fantasy landscape. Breece Hall injury update, Week 8 fantasy outlook

UPDATE: Hall suffered a torn ACL and a minor meniscus injury and will miss the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Sunday that they suspect Hall (knee) has an ACL injury, and the diagnosis is not good, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

The rookie running back left Sunday's game against the Broncos in the second quarter with a knee injury. Hall got off to another great start in that contest, posting four carries for 72 yards and a touchdown. If Hall is out for the rest of the season, it would be a significant loss to the Jets' backfield, as he's been the more explosive option between him and second-year running back Michael Carter. Carter would be viewed as a borderline RB2/flex for Week 8 due to his ability to be a playmaker in both the running and receiving games. Veteran Ty Johnson would step in as Carter's handcuff, and we've seen him have value before, especially in PPR leagues. Carter and Johnson will have a tough matchup next week against a Patriots defense that is allowing the fewest fantasy points to RBs (12.9).

Chuba Hubbard injury update, Week 8 fantasy outlook

Hubbard left in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with a "minor sprain" of his ankle. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the second-year running back could have come back into the game if needed.

The 23-year-old running back will be one of the top waiver wire additions heading into Week 8 after his outing against Tampa Bay. Hubbard had 63 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, plus two receptions (three targets) for 10 yards. Without Christian McCaffrey, Hubbard and D'Onta Foreman will be the go-to options out of the backfield for the Panthers, and both have at least flex value. Because Hubbard started and received the bulk of the carries early, we think he has slightly more value than Foreman, who had the bigger game last week, but these backs will continue to split time and eat into each other's touches. Nonetheless, both should be priority waiver pickups.
