2019 College Fantasy WR Rankings image

The value of WRs in college fantasy football varies substantially depending on your league’s scoring system. PPR leagues make wide receivers much more valuable than RBs (and open the door for more WR sleepers), whereas non-PPR leagues favor running backs. CFBDynasty has both covered in its recently released 2019 college fantasy rankings.

Colorado's Laviska Shenault checks in at No. 1 and was second in PPR fantasy points per game (FPPG) last season at 28.4 and 10th in total fantasy points even though he missed three games due to injury. A sensational sophomore, Purdue's Rondale Moore, had a stellar freshman season of 308 fantasy points and 25.7 FPPG. SMU's James Proche checks in at No. 3 and accumulated 281 fantasy points and 23.4 FPPG. Proche will get a new quarterback this season in transfer Shane Buchele from Texas, and his workload should stay similar, as he remains SMU's top offensive option.

The top-10 college fantasy wide receivers from last season averaged 25 FPPG, which edges out the top-10 running backs, who averaged 24 FPPG. That only proves that in the college game, the top-20 skill position players can be a mix of the two positions. Rankings will remain fluid until the season begins, especially in WR2/WR3/WR4 range, as CFBDynasty gains clarity on college football depth charts
