Is Chris Godwin playing Thursday night? Fantasy injury update for Buccaneers-Bills Week 8 Thursday Night Football image

Despite a surprisingly solid year in the W-L department, it's been a mostly disappointing fantasy season for most of Tampa Bay's key offensive players. That includes WR Chris Godwin, who remains TD-less ahead of Thursday Night Football's matchup against the Bills. To make matters worse, he's listed as "questionable" because of a neck injury, forcing his owners to check for last-minute updates ahead of their first start 'em, sit 'em decision of the week.

We'll continue to update this article with news on Godwin until the official active/inactive report comes out on Thursday around 6:45 p.m. ET, so check back for updates.

Is Chris Godwin playing Thursday night Week 8?

UPDATE: NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Thursday morning that Godwin is fully expected to play against the Bills.

UPDATE 2: Godwin is officially ACTIVE.

Despite getting in a full practice on Wednesday, Godwin (neck) is officially listed as "questionable" ahead of Thursday night's game in Buffalo. Given his gradual ramp-up in activity throughout the week (Estimated "DNP" on Monday, limited practice on Tuesday), it would be a major surprise if Godwin is inactive against the Bills.

As long as he plays, Godwin remains a worthwhile WR3/flex, at least in PPR leagues. He's been a disappointment this year, recording just one 100-yard game and no TDs, but he's still seeing a lot of snaps (at least 70 percent in every game) and a good number of targets (just over eight per game). Not many wide receivers get that consistent of a workload, so Godwin remains a high-floor, solid-ceiling player regardless of matchup.

WEEK 8 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

The Bills present a slightly below-average matchup, allowing the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game to WRs. That said, they've been a little leakier against WRs lately, giving up 63 yards and a TD to Kendrick Bourne last week and allowing three different Jaguars' WRs to have at least 11.3 PPR points in Week 5. Godwin is a virtual must-start in 12-team leagues, and he can get the job done in 10-team leagues depending on your depth.

If Godwin is a surprise scratch, look for Deven Thompkins and Trey Palmer to see more snaps and targets. Neither would be worth starting in season-long fantasy leagues in a week with no byes, but both make for interesting DFS single-game options.
