Istanbul Basaksehir vs Burnley: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview image

Premier League side Burnley face Turkey's Istanbul Basaksehir in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round match.

Burnley are the away side for the opener and will be hoping for a win to boost their chances of qualifying after the reverse fixture at Turf Moor on Thursday August 16.

The Istanbul club just missed out on the Turkish Super Lig title last season and will offer the sternest test for Sean Dyche's men so far in the European competition.

After successfully beating Aberdeen 4-2 on aggregate, the Clarets will be wanting to replicate their success ahead of their first Premier League game of the season against Southampton on Sunday.

However, it won't be an easy task with their goalkeepers Nick Pope and Tom Heaton are out injured, with new signing Joe Hart parachuted into the starting line-up.

Match Preview

Sean Dyche Burnley

Burnley's fantastic 2017-18 campaign saw them finish seventh in the Premier League and they were rewarded with a spot in Europe. Manager Dyche is confident the players will be ready despite not competing in continental football since 1967.

"We know they’ve got some very experienced players and well-travelled players, as well as some good technical players, so we have to be aware of that," he told reporters ahead of the match.

"Our mindset never changes. We try and win every game we play and that’s our mentality and it’s served us well over the number of years I’ve been at Burnley."

This will be both Basaksehir's first competitive game against an English opponent, and Burnley's first against Turkish opposition.

Basaksehir, who are owned by a government agency and have their stadium named after managerial icon Fatih Terim, entered the competition at this stage but have never won a Europa League qualifying match.
