Canada has yet to win gold at the World Mixed Doubles Championship and failed to reach the podium in 2022.

2023 World Mixed Doubles Championship standings
There are 20 teams that make up the field at the 2023 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.
The group is split up into two pools of 10. Each team plays every one of the other participants in their group, resulting in nine matches in round-robin play. After the round-robin concludes, the top three teams from each pool advance to the playoffs.
The top team from each pool has a direct bye to the semifinals. The No. 2 team from Pool A faces the No. 3 team in Pool B, and vice versa, for the qualification games. The winners of those two matches advance to the semifinals.
The winner of the two semifinal matches plays in the gold medal game. The losers of the semifinals play for the bronze.

The Canadian duo at the mixed double tournament is Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing. The pair, who are also married, are making their World Mixed Double debut.
Jones is considered to be one of the greatest Canadian curlers of all time. The native of Winnipeg has won the Scotties Tournament of Hearts six times and has won more games at the tournament than any other curler. She is a two-time gold medalist at the World Championships and won gold for Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
She currently is the skip on her own team.
Laing's resume is not quite as extensive as Jones', but he still has plenty of credentials. The native of Meaford, Ont. is a three-time Tim Hortons Brier gold medalist and six-time Brier silver medalist. He is also a three-time World Champion and owns 16 victories in the Grand Slam of Curling.
He most recently played second on Mike McEwen's rink.
