The 2023 World Men's Curling Championship is complete and for the second-straight year, Canada is heading home with a silver medal. 

Brad Gushue and his rink from Newfoundland lost in the gold-medal game to Bruce Mouat and Scotland. It's the 14th silver medal won at the tournament by Canada.

The win for Scotland is the country's seventh at the World Men's Curling Championship. It is also the first time since 2017 that the winner of the competition was not Niklas Edin and Sweden.

2023 World Men's Curling Championship playoff format

For the World Men's Curling Championship, the playoffs consist of the top six teams from the round-robin. 

The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds get automatic byes to the semifinals. The Nos. 3-6 teams play in the qualification games, where No. 3 faces No. 6 and No. 4 plays No. 5. 

The winners from the qualification games go to the semifinals. The victors of the two semifinal contests play in the gold-medal game, while the two losers face off in the bronze-medal game.

Who is representing Canada at the 2023 World Men’s Curling Championship?

Brad Gushue and his team will be in Ottawa to represent Canada at the tournament, as they are the winners of the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier. 

Gushue's Team Canada defeated Matt Dunstone's Team Manitoba in the final of the Canadian men's curling championship. It is the second consecutive year with Gushue representing Canada at the tournament.
