Sunday, April 11 update: Games are being played today with the expectation that they will get through all draws including the bronze and gold medal rounds. The draw between the United States and Switzerland will not be shown on TSN due to safety concerns.
The issue stems from the player on the ice, who tested positive then negative and is vaccinated, now in this game

Up until 30 minutes ago we were told that player would not be in the game. And now is. And all the medical guidelines changed.

Update: The World Men's Curling Championship is on hold after a number of positive COVID-19 tests in the Calgary bubble. According to Curling Canada, the positive tests did not come from any of the teams that qualified for the playoffs, which include Canada and the United States. Canada was eliminated Friday night by Scotland and the U.S. was set to play Switzerland on Saturday morning in the second qualifying game
Dr. Bob McCormack, the chief medical officer of the Calgary curling bubble, told reporters on a Zoom call Saturday evening that there were four positives on three teams. He did not know whether the positives were for a variant but reported that those infected are asymptomatic. Four additional teams are considered close contacts.
The championship still has the aforementioned qualifying game to play along with the semifinals and the bronze- and gold-medal draws. There is hope that the tournament will finish Sunday but that depends on the next round of test results.

After the 2020 edition of the World Men's Curling Championship was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the men are back on the ice in 2021.
The tournament begins April 2 with an expanded field —14 teams — hitting the sheets in a bubble in Calgary, Alta. All will have their sights set on gold. The tournament usually has 13 teams but it was expanded this year to include China because it had locked down a spot for 2020. It did not meet the requirements for 2021.
Some of the biggest names in the sport will be competing, including United States skip John Shuster — an Olympic gold medalist in 2018 — and recent Tim Horton's Brier champion Brendan Bottcher, who will represent Canada with his crew. They'll face stiff competition from two-time defending champ Sweden, skipped by Niklas Edin. (Edin also won with Sweden in 2015.)
Here's everything you need to know about the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship:
When is the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship?
This year's tournament begins Friday, April 2, with the final scheduled to take place Sunday, April 11, at 6 p.m. ET.
Where is the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship?
Originally scheduled to take place in Ottawa, Ont., teams will now compete in a bubble in Calgary, Alta. The Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park will serve as the host site.
Will fans be in attendance?
Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, fans will not be allowed to attend this year's tournament. The bubble setup in Calgary is similar to the ones the NHL (Edmonton and Toronto) and the 2021 IIHF World Juniors Championship (Edmonton) created. Canada's Briers, Scotties and Mixed Doubles tournaments all took place under the same bubble.
What channel is the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship on?
The World Men's Curling Championship will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada with live streaming available via TSN.ca and the TSN app.
Curling fans in the United States can watch Team USA on the Olympic Channel with select draws — April 3 vs. Sweden, April 5 vs. Canada and the gold-medal game — on NBCSN.
All featured draws will also be on the World Curling TV YouTube channel.

2021 World Men's Curling Championship pool standings
Fourteen teams will hit the sheets in Calgary and compete in 13 round-robin games. The top two teams will advance directly to the semifinals. The next four teams will face off (3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5) for a spot in the semis.
The teams that win the semifinals will go for gold and the losers will meet for bronze. Unlike Canada's curling championships, there will be no tiebreakers on the international stage; head-to-head is the first tiebreak and then pregame Last-Shot Draw distance if needed.
The top six teams gain automatic sports in the 2022 Olympics.

Why is Russia listed as 'The Russian Curling Federation'?
The World Anti-Doping Agency banned Russia from international competition for four years last December. The ban includes Olympic Games and world championships, and Russia's flag or name cannot be used. Athletes, however, are not banned from competing but can only do so under a neutral flag.
