Where is Vic Rauter? Why longtime TSN curling commentator is missing from 2023 Scotties matches image

The 2023 Scotties are about kick off today from Kamloops, which means the voice of Canadian curling returns.

Longtime TSN curling play-by-play announcer Vic Rauter is back in the booth this week as the Canadian women's curling championship begins.

Rauter has been a part of the TSN's curling coverage for over 25 years. The Scotties are the first of a string of national and international tournaments he will cover this spring, including the Tim Horton Brier and the World Curling Championships.

However, Rauter will not be in the booth for every game at the Scotties. The Sporting News has more details on why Rauter is missing from select broadcasts.

Where is Vic Rauter?

Rauter is set to be in the booth for the 2023 Scotties, but he won't be the play-by-play voice for every match.

Bryan Mudryk is going to be splitting duties with Rauter. Mudryk has typically done the morning sessions while Rauter is on for the afternoon and evening games.

Russ Howard is expected to be Rauter's pairing on the mic, which has been the case in past years for TSN's coverage. Cathy Gauther returns as an analyst, and Joanne Courtney makes her TSN debut at the 2023 Scotties, joining the crew as an analyst.
