Championship season is here on the Canadian Curling scene. 

The Tim Hortons Brier is on the horizon, as the Canadian men's curling championship is set to succeed the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which is in full swing. 

Brad Gushue's team enters 2023 as the defending champions of the tournament. Gushue has been a dominant force at the Brier, eyeing a fifth win at the event. He has come out on top in four out of the last sevens Briers. 

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier.

When is the 2023 Brier?

  • Start: Friday, March 3
  • End: Sunday, March 12

The 2023 Brier will start on Friday, March 3 and run until Sunday, March 12. 

Pool play runs from the 3rd to the 9th and the playoffs begin on the 10th.

Where is the 2023 Brier?

  • Venue: Budweiser Gardens
  • Location: London, Ont.

This year's Brier is being played at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont. 

The arena is the home of the London Knights of the OHL, as well as NBL Canada's London Lightning. 

This marks the third time that London has hosted the tournament, and the second time Budweiser Gardens has been the venue. 

What channel is the 2023 Brier on?

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be broadcast on TSN for the entirety of the tournament.

What is the purse for the 2023 Brier?

The 18 teams are competing for a combined purse of $300,000. 

Here is the breakdown of prize money for the event: 

1st: $100,000
2nd: $60,000
3rd: $40,000
Championship Pool (4th-8th): $15,000
Non-Championship Pool (9th-18th): $2,500

In addition to $100,000, the winner of the 2023 Brier will represent Canada at the 2023 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship. That tournament will be played in Ottawa in mid-March.
