Two of the top wrestling schools in the nation face off on Feb. 14 as surging Minnesota hosts Iowa.

Minnesota is ranked sixth in the NCAA Division I rankings. The Gophers have won fifteen titles at wrestling opens. Minnesota won six straight meets after losing against Nebraska to open January competition.

Iowa is 5-1 in its last six meets to open the year. The Hawkeyes were unbeaten before getting trashed against Penn State and have now won two straight.

Coach Tom Brands will rely on Michael Caliendo, ranked second at 165, as he faces Minnesota's 15th-ranked Andrew Sparks. The former is 2-0 against Sparks. Iowa also has Kyle Parco, who leads the team in career dual starts, and 133-pound ace Drake Ayala.

Brandon Eggum looks to coach Minnesota to victory in the school's final regular-season meet. Outside Sparks, Minnesota has top-ranked Max McEnelly, Tommy Askey and 2020 Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.
