Chicago Fire defender Brandon Vincent has announced his retirement after just three professional seasons.
Vincent, 24, had been a mainstay with the Fire since being taken third overall in the 2016 SuperDraft, starting 81 games in league play for the club over his three pro campaigns.
Overall, Vincent played a total of 86 MLS games for the Fire, scoring three goals and adding 12 assists over that span.
"This may come as a surprise to many, but I'm at a time in my life where it is best for me to move on from the game," Vincent wrote on Twitter.
"Chicago will always be a special place to me and I am forever grateful for the privilege I had of wearing the jersey and representing the city," the defender continued.
"I wish the club the best of luck and future success. Thanks for the incredible memories, Chicago! I can't wait to see what life brings next."

Vincent played collegiately at Stanford University, where he was a member of the Cardinal's NCAA-winning team that also featured Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris.
Arguably Vincent’s best season came in 2017, when he scored two goals and added five assists in 27 games, helping the Fire to their first postseason appearance since 2012.
Vincent earned a single cap for the United States national team during his career – a 44-minute outing in a February 2016 friendly against Canada.
