The Chicago Bulls announced on Friday night that forward Lauri Markkanen will miss 6-8 weeks with a high grade left elbow sprain.

Markkanen was the 7th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft. Starting all 68 games for the Bulls last year, he wasted no time to make an impact. He put together a stellar rookie campaign averaging 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 36.2% from beyond the arc. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team.

The Bulls open the 2018-19 regular season on Thursday, October 12th against the Philadelphia 76ers. The injury will keep him sidelined for approximately 14 games to start the season.
