The UEFA Champions League is set to return this week in a new avatar.
The elite Eueopean club tournament has expanded from 32 to 36 teams. Moreover, the clubs will compete in a single league phase rather than the traditional group stage.
The top eight teams at the end of the league phase will automatically qualify for the round of 16. For the remaining eight spots, teams ranked ninth to 24th will compete in a two-legged play-off.
Real Madrid, the reigning champions, will be looking to defend their title against a fierce field.

Champions League matches for the 2024/25 season will largely be shown on DAZN in Canada.
DAZN originally acquired the streaming rights for the UEFA Champions League in May 2018 while replacing TSN, extended the right to broadcast the tournament from 2024 to 2027 this year.
