Ricky Ray has won four Grey Cups so far in his illustrious CFL career, but on Sunday he added his name to the record books for a different reason.
On the first play of the second quarter, the Toronto Argonauts' veteran quarterback dropped back just in front of his own end zone and launched a ball into the snowy Ottawa night, finding DeVier Posey near the sidelines. Posey had a clear path ahead of him and sprinted 66 yards after the catch before diving head-first into the end zone, completing the longest passing play in Grey Cup history.

The Calgary Stampeders had taken a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but Posey's major tied things up in an exciting first half at TD Place.

Ray, a 38-year-old who debuted in the CFL back in 2002, also pulled himself alongside former Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo for the most Grey Cup touchdown passes over a career.

Coincidentally, Ray was also witness to the second-longest touchdown pass in the history of the CFL's championship game. As a member of the Edmonton Eskimos during his maiden CFL season, Ray watched as Calvillo hit wide receiver Pat Woodcock for a 99-yard completion as Montreal claimed a 25-16 victory at the 90th Grey Cup.
Sunday's record-setting pass helped erase that memory, while also contributing to Toronto's stunning 27-24 victory.
