Report: Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash adds former Phoenix Suns teammate Amar'e Stoudemire to coaching staff image

One of the best pick and roll duos in recent NBA history are reuniting in Brooklyn.

Nets head coach Steve Nash has hired his former lob recipient Amar'e Stoudemire to join his staff, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Nash and Stoudemire played 405 games over six seasons together in Phoenix. As a duo, they were one of the most devastating forces the league had to offer at the time.

Stoudemire moved onto the New York Knicks after the 2010 season and saw some individual success before injuries began to derail his career.

Stoudemire last appeared in the NBA as a member of the Miami Heat in 2015-16. Since then he's been continuing his playing career overseas most recently for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israeli Premier League and EuroLeague in 2020.

According to Charania, Stoudemire will be focused on player development with the Nets.

Expectations will be high in Brooklyn when the 2020-21 season begins with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving getting set to join a young, talented core. According to PointsBets, the Nets are +1000 to win the NBA title in 2021 — the fifth-best odds in the league.
