Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder both ejected after third quarter confrontation image

The marquee matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets was always set for some fireworks despite the absences of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and James Harden.

In the third quarter, Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder got into it, with both players ejected from the game — the first-career ejections for both players.

The pair began jawing after Irving was called for a foul on Schroder, with officials separating the pair before awarding them each a technical foul.

The conversation between the two continued as Irving walked towards the Nets bench, with a second technical quickly following for both.

Both point guards were locked in a back-and-forth battle through the first half, with Schroder leading the Lakers with 19 points, while Irving had a team-high 18 for the Nets.

The Nets trailed by four at the time of the ejections (9:41), with the Lakers responding with a 22-9 run to blow the game open and take a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter.

Andre Drummond led eight players in double figures with 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Lakers cruised to a 126-101 win on the road, improving to a 5-6 record without LeBron James.
