Jordan Gill and Zelfa Barrett fight at super featherweight
Dave Thompson/ Matchroom

A domestic showdown takes place in the AO Arena in Manchester when Jordan Gill and Zelfa Barrett face off on April 13. The super featherweight fight airs on DAZN worldwide.

Cambridgeshire's Gill turned pro in 2012. "The Thrill" won the Commonwealth featherweight title in 2018 and the European featherweight title in 2022. Losing against Kiko Martinez in October 2022, Gill rebounded in December with a TKO win against Michael Conlan.

The underdog in the Conlan fight, it is the same situation for Gill against Barrett. He welcomes doubters from all fronts.

"I just like upsetting people and I think I get a kick out of people telling me that I can't win fights. Everyone expected me to lose the Conlan fight, and going in there and pulling it off – for me that’s exciting and that’s what boxing is all about. It’s all about the good fights and this is a really good fight. I’m ready to go to the well," Gill said.

Barrett turned pro in 2014. "Brown Flash" won the English super featherweight title in 2017 and the Commonwealth super featherweight belt in 2019. He won the European belt in 2022 but failed to capture the IBF super featherweight title in November 2022 against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov. The Manchester-born Barrett has since won two straight and is ready for a homecoming fight for the ages.

"Manchester has been screaming for a fighter and I’m top of the tree," Barrett said. "If I can get a win over Jordan, the world is mine. Respect goes out of the window on fight night; its dog eat dog. I just believe I’m a better fighter than Jordan – he hits hard, but I hit harder. He’s fast, but I’m faster. There’s no way I’m going to lose this fight."
