Jesse Rodriguez looks to elevate his established career when he challenges Juan Francisco Estrada for the WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles.

The 33-year-old Estrada turned pro in 2008 when Rodriguez was eight. "El Gallo" has won gold at light flyweight, flyweight, and super flyweight, beating rival Roman Gonzalez in 2022 in a trilogy fight for the WBC title. That was his last time in the ring, and the layoff could be why he’s a massive underdog. That doesn’t seem to bother Estrada.

“I don’t pay attention to any of that. It plays no factor. I can be the underdog,” Estrada said via Boxing Scene. “The odds don’t mean anything. I know he’s going to be on top of his game and coming for everything. I’m expecting the best Estrada. It’s going to be a great fight – expect fireworks.”

Rodriguez, 24, has already held gold in two divisions. “Bam” last fought in December, decimating Sunny Edwards to win the IBF flyweight title. He punished Edwards through the fight, forcing his eye to swell early, and landed a brutal knockdown in the ninth, an unexpected finishing blow to go with an epic performance.

“I think the youth is going to play a big factor – especially that Estrada is coming off a big layoff,” said Rodriguez. “I'm expecting the best Estrada. He moves very well. He knows how to box and has a great IQ... Sunny Edwards also had good movement, and we saw what I did to that.”
