Manny Pacquiao taking to his Instagram account Monday and threatening to sue Top Rank over unpaid fees was definitely heard loud and clear.
That's because, Top Rank chairman Bob Arum told ESPN on Tuesday that the payment issue was being dealt with.
"We read the Instagram post and [Top Rank attorney] Harrison [Whitman] handled it with Pacquiao's attorney, and it looks like everything will be resolved," Arum told ESPN.
So, what triggered the non-payment issue in the first place?
Well, Arum told ESPN that Pacquiao didn't sign and return the right contract for his July fight against Lucas Matthysse.
Pacquiao began his IG post, congratulating Arum's Top Rank for signing a new seven-year deal with ESPN to keep boxing on the Worldwide Leader in Sports. But the post quickly took a turn, when Pacquiao said that he has still not received the U.S. rights payment for Matthysse bout, which was broadcast on ESPN+ on Jul. 15. With that, Pacquiao announced that he's suing Top Rank over the "non-payment" and will "attempt to restrict my future rights."
Well, it looks like Arum and Top Rank don't want any legal smoke with the boxing legend, nor the bad PR that would come along with it, as a resolution is seemingly drawing near.
