That meant the Englishman was four pounds heavier than he had been for his victory over Joseph Parker in March, but still lighter than his three contests prior to that fight.

Challenger Povetkin came in at a relatively modest 222 pounds. The Russian had weighed in at 229 for his last fight with David Price, which took place on the undercard of the Joshua-Parker bout in Cardiff.

Joshua and Povetkin shook hands at the conclusion of their weigh-in, both men appearing relaxed ahead of Saturday's main event.

"He's going to be quick, going to be fast, so I'll put on my dancing shoes and be fast with my feet," the champion told Sky Sports. "I'm a physical, strong guy who knows how to box."
