The buildup to Taylor vs. Catteralll 2 has been one of the most acrimonious in British boxing history. Their feud hit fever pitch two years ago when Taylor was awarded a contentious 12-round split decision over his nemesis in Glasgow.
Since then, the Scotsman has relinquished three world titles and lost WBO and Ring versions to American Teofimo Lopez in June 2023. Meanwhile, Catterall has posted points wins over Darragh Foley and ex-champ Jorge Linares.
A rematch between the pair is the biggest fight available for both and the hostility remains visceral.
“He’s not my type of person,” said Catterall. “I don’t think we would go out for a coffee or a beer. I just don’t like him. I can’t wait to stop talking about him. I want to beat him in every way possible. I want to make it slow and painful, but I also want to knock him out cold.
“He should enjoy this, it’s probably going to be his last fight. There’s no room to hide Josh. Rival, enemy – Josh Taylor is that to me. The judges can’t save him. I can’t f----ng wait."
The Sporting News provides odds and a final prediction for this eagerly anticipated rematch.

Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall 2 prediction, best bets
I believe that Josh Taylor is a better fighter than Jack Catterall. I’m just not sure about this fight taking place at Super Lightweight. For me, Taylor doesn't belong at 140 pounds anymore and should have moved up to welterweight long ago.
I’ve also seen it mentioned that this all-southpaw battle is being contested on neutral ground. How does that work? Taylor, the Scotsman, is fighting an Englishman in England. Bottom line: Catterall has home advantage and he’s the sentimental favorite following the controversial result in fight one.
Taylor wants a challenge, but he’s really given himself a challenge. He could end up winning the fight, only for the judges to be swayed by what happened the first time. Catterall has an extremely tough style to solve, so I think Taylor will struggle to stop him. If it goes 12, I think Catterall gets the decision.
Sporting News prediction: Catterall SD 12 (Per BetMGM: +180)
