The Commonwealth middleweight title is on the line when Hamzah Sheeraz faces Liam Williams on February 10. The fight in England airs on ESPN+ in the U.S.
Sheeraz (18-0) is a former European champion and beat River Wilson-Bent in November 2022 for the Commonwealth middleweight title. His last fight was a TKO win in August against Dmytro Mytrofanov. The 24-year-old believes a win will result in endless opportunities for him.
“For sure, my hardest opponent to date, but that’s been the case for my last five fights, I knew that I was going to progressively step up each fight, and there comes a time in a fighter’s career where you have to take fights like this. This is one of them, and who better than Liam Williams,” Sheeraz told TNT Sports via Eurosport “If I was going to stand here and disrespect him, it’d be a bit silly of me. But it is my time now, so I’ve gotta go there on February 10 and put on a great performance.”
Williams (25-4-1) beat Michael Lomax in 2014 for the Commonwealth super welterweight title and Kris Carslaw in 2015 for the British belt. "The Machine" lost two straight against Liam Smith for the interim WBO super welterweight title. After that, Williams went on a seven-fight win streak and won the British middleweight title. Losing against Demetrius Andrade in 2021 for the WBO middleweight title and Chris Eubank Jr. shortly after, Williams has won two in a row since.
