Claressa Shields challenges herself by moving multiple weight classes as she headlines a show in her home of Michigan, challenging Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse for the WBC heavyweight title.

Shields (14-0) is a three-division boxing champion and a two-time undisputed champion. The two-time Olympic gold medalist last fought in the ring in June 2023. Since then, the self-proclaimed “G.W.O.A.T.” has competed for the PFL.

Lepage-Joanisse (7-1) is on a four-fight win streak. She failed to capture the WBC heavyweight title in 2017 against Alejandra Jimenez but won it against Abril Argentina Vidal in March.

While she has two wins via knockout, Lepage-Joanisse believes her heavyweight power will be enough to stop Shields.

“It remains to be seen if she can take the punch of a heavyweight,” Lepage-Joanisse said via Michigan Republic. “What’s going to matter is… during that fight…can she handle the power.”
