Anderson Silva needed only one punch to end Tito Ortiz's boxing debut in the co-main event of the Triller Fight Club pay-per-view card that is being headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.
The former UFC middleweight champion stopped Ortiz in the first round with a counter right hand to improve to 2-0 in 2021.
Ortiz, who was never known as a striker, had no business being in the ring with someone like Silva. He went after Silva early but was moving in slow motion. Part of the reason was Ortiz's brutal weight cut; he attempted to lose 40 pounds in a month. He came up short and was five pounds overweight at the weigh-in.
But the weight didn't matter much in the end as Silva torched the boxing novice with a brilliant counter right hand that put Ortiz down and out at 1:21 of the round.
Sporting News provided live updates and highlights from the fight. Here's how it went down.

Anderson Silva vs. Tito Ortiz live updates, highlights
Round 1 (9:25 p.m.): Ortiz starts with a wide stance like most MMA fighters do and punches in slow motion. Ortiz chases Silva into the ropes and unloads a barrage of super-slow-motion punches. Counter right by Silva, Tito Ortiz is down. This fight is over. LOL!

9:18 p.m.: Here comes Tito Ortiz as he waves an American flag on his way to the ring. How strange is it to see a mixed martial artist who was never, ever, ever known for his striking in boxing gloves? Very. Anderson Silva follows with a look on his face that suggests that he knows he's going to hurt Ortiz and he doesn't have time to feel bad about it. Also, UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal has joined Trump on commentary.
9:16 p.m.: On the other side of commentary, we have 50 Cent. Mr. Cent is just happy to be here and hasn't added a whole lot to the broadcast. Maybe if we get an exciting fight, things will spruce up.
9:07 p.m.: Before we get to the co-main between Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz, we get a special performance by Snoop Dogg and Marvin Gaye. How? Well, through the power of video, Snoop has been transported to an earlier time to perform on stage with the late singer. If this was supposed to happen anywhere, Triller Fight Club would be the place.
Jono Carroll gets controversial majority decision over Andy Vences
Result (9 p.m.): Well, this decision was flat-out wrong. Vences appeared to have the lead early while Carroll came on strong in the final two rounds. But two scorecards being in favor of Carroll 97-93 was absolutely absurd. The third scorecard was 95-95, which was fair, but this seemed to be a fight that Vences should have won.
8:46 p.m.: To explain how uneventful Vences-Carroll has been through eight rounds, consider that Trump has talked more about the UFC, WWE and "Dante" Wilder than the fight itself. Vences has been sharper throughout while Carroll needs to put his foot on the gas.
8:33 p.m.: Carroll-Vences has been a decent fight thus far with Vences seemingly ahead with his sharper punching and bodywork. Meanwhile, Trump is shouting out the likes of Sergey Kovalev and the fans who have brought signs and are chanting his name between rounds. Carroll and Vences are going to need to pick it up to get this crowd into it.
8:21 p.m.: Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has joined the Trump commentary team during the second round of Vences vs. Carroll.
7:58 p.m.: Before Jono Carroll and Andy Vences step into the ring, we get another live performance from Lunay
David Haye cruises to a unanimous decision over Joe Fournier
Result (7:51 p.m.): As expected, Haye pitched a near shutout with scores of 79-72, 80-71 and 79-72. No, it wasn't entertaining. But at least Haye looked solid despite being away from the sport three years. Will we see more Haye in the future?
7:45 p.m.: Although Fournier predicted a first-round knockout, he was the one who went down early, despite it looking like a slip. Outside of that, the fight has lacked excitement with Haye dominating in a rather ho-hum affair. The highlight? Trump saying that championship fights being reduced from 15 to 12 rounds "really hurt boxing." The runner-up? Trump stating that Tito Ortiz is smarter than Omarosa." Biggest punches of the night.
7:29 p.m.: Fournier vs. Haye has been relatively uneventful after two rounds. But Trump is already at it. He said, "David (Haye) looks like he’s got a lot of talent." Uh, yeah. That's because Haye is a former champion.
7:13 p.m.: We're getting our first fight of the night between heavyweights and friends David Haye and Joe Fournier after a live performance by Gente de Zona.
7:05 p.m.: To get these things started, we get former president Donald Trump talking about the fight card after giving his thoughts on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Yeah, that happened. Whew.
