Adam Kownacki and Chris Arreola put CompuBox through the ringer Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and live on "PBC Fight Night" on FOX.

The heavyweights broke the CompuBox record for most combined punches thrown (2,172) and punches landed (667) in a heavyweight bout during their 12-round phone booth style slugfest, which ended with Kownacki having his hand raised via unanimous decision (118-110, 117-111, 117-111) before his raucous hometown fans in Brooklyn.

 

 

Both heavyweights threw, landed and ate heavy punches with a commitment and willingness to remain in the pocket for 36 minutes, but Kownacki landed more shots to remain undefeated.

"Hopefully next year I get a title shot and we'll see what happens," Kownacki said during his post-fight interview with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in attendance at the Barclays Center looking on.

You got the feeling pretty quickly that Kownacki and Arreola were going to exchange heavy hands relentlessly and they just never let up.

 

 

Although both fighters rocked each other across several instances during the fight, Kownacki got the better of most exchanges and deservingly won the bout.

Before the fight, Arreola vowed that he'd retire if he couldn't' beat Kownacki. But his gritty performance Saturday night led him to say that he'll talk things over with his family. Perhaps the veteran gatekeeper of the heavyweight division will have a change of heart.

Jean Pascal scored three knockdowns of Marcus Brown, but the fight ended on a technical decision in the eighth round due to an accidental headbutt that opened up a nasty cut above Brown’s eye, with blood gushing into his eye. That prompted a doctor’s stoppage and all three judges had it scored 75-74 in favor of Pascal (34-6-1, 20 KOs), granting him the upset win.

 

 

Pascal first dropped Brown with a thunderous right hook in the fourth round.

 

 

He added another couple of knockdowns during the seventh round in what was a close, all-action fight that ended early and abruptly due to the headbutt.

 

 

With the loss, Brown (23-1, 16 KOs) not only lost his title, but suffered his first pro defeat.

Wale Omotoso dominates Curtis Stevens by third-round TKO

Omotoso dropped Stevens three times, giving the ref more than enough evidence to end the fight in third round following the third knockdown.
