With Super Wild Card weekend officially in the books, did bettors cash or tear up more of their tickets? We discussed the weekend that was with Phill Gray, head of trading for Sports Interaction, breaking down the most notable results and whether they went in favor of the house or the bettors.
NFL Super Wild Card Weekend Action Report
For Sports Interaction, Wild Card weekends typically don't yield the best results, but the book did turn a modest profit over the three days. Let's detail how it all went down.
49ers (-9) notch 11th consecutive win, covering with ease
In the first game of Super Wild Card weekend, the book saw two-way action with some bettors laying the points to back the red-hot 49ers (closed -9) while others faded the Brock Purdy hype and rode Seahawks moneyline (closed +335). Additionally, with rain in the forecast and the 49ers sporting the league's best defense, Saturday afternoon's matchup was one of only two games to see heavy action on the under 42 (opened 43).

Under bettors had a feeling they weren't going to end up cashing their tickets at halftime, with Seattle leading 17-16, already hitting their team total over while scoring two touchdowns. However, spread bettors felt a bit different as Seattle's offense was consistently moving the ball on the 49ers' vaunted defense.
Despite trailing at halftime, the 49ers scored a touchdown on their opening possession of the half and never looked back, ultimately cruising to a 41-23 victory. In the win, Brock Purdy moved to 6-0 straight up and 5-1 ATS as a starter, can he maintain his efficient play against Dallas (-3.5) in the divisional round?
Jaguars (+2) climb out of 27-0 hole to stun Chargers
Saturday night's Jaguars-Chargers thriller resulted in the biggest loss of the weekend for SIA. In the pregame markets, Jacksonville saw more spread (+2) and moneyline action (+108) than Los Angeles. With the Jaguars trailing 27-0 in the second quarter, their in-game moneyline sat as high as +2800. According to Gray, "on the heels of the Vikings' big comeback a few weeks ago, bettors were quick and heavy to pounce on all live markets."
Expect bettors to continue taking long odds on underdogs in national TV windows to come back and win, as we've seen two teams (Vikings, and Jaguars) rally from large deficits in recent weeks.

Dolphins (+14) surprise, push Bills to the brink
After opening at -11, Buffalo took both sharp and public money following the news of Tua Tagovailoa's availability, ultimately closing at -14. SIA did have liability on Dolphins' moneyline (+820) which resulted in the book winning on the spread and moneyline.
While Buffalo looked primed for a sweat-free victory leading 17-0 in the first half, some untimely turnovers kept the Dolphins within striking distance, as Miami's resiliency was exactly what SIA needed. According to Gray, "Buffalo's three-point win negated all teaser action, action as well was on the under (closed 44). The 34-31 Buffalo finish was a win for the book on sides and total. Our best result of the weekend."

Giants (+3) hand Vikings first one-score loss of the season
Minnesota entered Super Wild Card weekend 11-0 in one-score games, but their one-score game luck seemingly ran out against Daniel Jones and the Giants. 75 percent of the moneyline action favored the Vikings (-155) both in single bets and parlays.

New York's 31-24 upset win was a positive result for the book, despite Sunday afternoon's contest being the fourth straight game to go over the total (48). With the public likely backing the Eagles in the divisional round, can the G-Men come through for the book?
Bengals (-8) escape with seven-point win over Lamar-less Ravens
Depending on when you got your bet in, early Bengals spread bettors (-6.5) rejoiced in Cincinnati's 24-17 win over Baltimore, while the majority of bettors went to bed Sunday night wishing they got the best of the number. Cincinnati got as high as -9 during the week but ultimately closed at -8.
It wasn't a big win for SIA, as Cincinnati's narrow victory covered teasers and early spread bets. As most games did, ample action was bet on the underdog's moneyline as Baltimore (+360) had life, but some late-game clock mismanagement undid its hopes of playing spoiler.
THAT JUST HAPPENED 😵💫

Buccaneers (+2.5) lay a dud on Monday Night Football
After an eventful two days, NFL fans and bettors expected another thriller between the Buccaneers (+2.5) and Cowboys but were unfortunately treated to a one-sided blowout.
According to Gray, "what was looking to be our biggest liability of the weekend turned out to be the second biggest win. The Bucs were bet hard on both the spread (which bounced many times from 2.5 to 3) and the moneyline where 80 percent of the action was on them (closed +122)."
Additionally, the most heavily bet total of Super Wild Card weekend was on the over 45.5 as bettors we're hoping all six games would coast over the total. Tampa's late rally made totals bettors sweat, but a 31-14 final was a perfect ending to the weekend for SIA. Over bettors are still figuring out how Brett Maher missed four extra points.
