Boakye wins Zvezda's 2017 Player of the Year award image

Ghana striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has been named Crvena Zvezda's best Player of the year 2017 during an award ceremony on Thursday.

The 24-year-old joined the Serbian side from Italian Serie B team Latina initially on loan but made the move permanent in June and has had a successful season so far.

The former Juventus youth star scored 39 goals in 48 matches in all competitions in the year under review as Zvezda finished second in the Serbian top-flight last season but currently sit at the summit in the ongoing campaign.

Zvezda have also reached the Uefa Europa League knockout stage and will play Czech Republican side Viktoria Plzen for a place in the round of 16.

 

Boakye is gunning for the 2017-18 Serbian top-flight's goalking after scoring 15 goals, two goals behind teammate Aleksandr Pesic while FK Radnicki’s Milan Pavkov occupies second position with 16 goals.
