When Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finishes his rehab, he will reportedly be one step closer to Toronto in not only distance, but also the prospect pipeline.

The Blue Jays are planning to promote Guerrero Jr. to the Buffalo Bisons, Toronto’s triple-A affiliate, when he completes his rehab from a knee injury, according to the Toronto Sun.

Guerrero Jr. had spent this season playing with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Toronto’s double-A affiliate, until he suffered a strained patella tendon in his left knee that was supposed to keep him about about four weeks.

Prior to the injury, Guerrero Jr. was tearing it up in double-A, hitting .407 with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs in 53 games.

According to the same report, Guerrero Jr. was close to a promotion prior to when he suffered the injury in early June. It's been a little over four weeks since he was shut down, and is also reportedly getting closer to returning to the field, an exact date still unknown.
