Australian Open qualifying's first round continued on Tuesday as three Canadians hit the court looking to advance to the main draw.

Coming off her run at the Auckland Open where she reached the final, Bianca Andreescu was the country's lone winner Wednesday afternoon. The 18-year-old advanced with a walkover as her opponent, Katie Swan of the United Kingdom, retired following a back injury. Andreescu won the lone set 6–1 and will return to the court on Wednesday to face Greece's Valentini Grammatikopoulou.

Canadian Katherine Sebov was not as successful as she fell to France's Jessika Ponchet in straight sets 6–1, 6–4. Sebov's 33 unforced errors were her downfall along with her three double faults in the match.
In the men's draw, Brayden Schnur lost to world No. 176 Kamil Majchrzak 6–4, 6–3. Schnur, following in the footsteps of fellow Canadian Milos Raonic, dominated with 11 aces; however, the 23-year-old was plagued by unforced errors (40).
The two other Canadians remaining in qualifying Felix Auger-Aliassime and Peter Polansky take the court on Wednesday. The Australian Open begins on Monday, Jan. 14 with the main draw being announced on Thursday.
