Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson has been hailed for qualities "you normally associate with Neymar" by former Gunners defender Martin Keown.

Making his third competitive appearance for Arsenal, the 17-year-old earned plaudits for his performance in a 4-2 win over BATE Borisov in Europa League action on Thursday.

"He showed the touches that you normally associate with Neymar," Keown said on BT Sport. "He breezes past players, and [manager Arsene] Wenger will know the quality he has.

"He had a great night, and at 17 years of age, it's phenomenal the ability he has."

Former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas joined in praising Nelson, hailing the attacker for adapting to a wing-back role.

"I thought he was brilliant," Jenas said. "He's obviously a forward, and the confidence he showed in the game playing at right wing-back was brilliant.

"Throughout the game he was doing certain things. You can see it in some players, and you don't have to watch them for long, to say 'Yes, you've got it'.

"He doesn't feel pressure, not that you do when you're younger."
