According to sources close to Goal, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) officials have already started communication with the two clubs informing them of this possibility.
Last year it was the winner of the West Zone who got the opportunity to host the final. Iraq’s Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya hosted the final in Doha as games couldn’t be held in Baghdad over security concerns.
It is reliably learnt that this time around the winner of the Inter-Zonal final of the East zone would get the chance to play host.
Fans in Bengaluru would hope that the Blues progress into the final so that India gets to host its first ever AFC Cup final.
Bengaluru FC face Istiklol on Wednesday in the first leg with the return fixture in Bengaluru scheduled for October 18.
