Last year, All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling exceeded expectations when they collaborated to produce the ultimate wrestling event, Forbidden Door. This year's event will look to top its predecessor.

The partnership continues with AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 on June 25. Inside the Scotiabank Arena in Canada, the event will air on BR Live in the U.S. and FITE/ DAZN in select countries.

Several top stars will compete at the event. Kenny Omega defends the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title against Will Ospreay. Omega, the first U.S. Champion, beat Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in a 2023 Match of the Year contender to become champion again. Ospreay later beat Hiroshi Tanahashi and Lance Archer to become the top contender for the belt.

A dream match has been booked for the event, as Bryan Danielson faces Kazuchika Okada. A member of the Blackpool Combat Club, Danielson has attempted to compete against New Japan talent since joining AEW. At Dominion 6.4 in Osaka-jo Hall, Danielson challenged Okada, the seven-time world champion and four-time G1 Climax winner.

“For the last ten years, I’ve heard people talk about how great you are,” Danielson said. “How you’re the best wrestler of this generation. And I’ve also heard, in interviews, you said you want to wrestle me. That you want to fight me. Watching you, you’re good, I know you’re good. But I am the litmus test of great! You wanna wrestle Bryan Danielson? You call yourself ‘The Rainmaker.’ Well, you step in the ring with me, and you’re getting into the f------ desert. And there ain’t gonna be no rain.”

Speaking of Tanahashi, the former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion will challenge MJF for the AEW World Title. MJF has been vocal about going against fighting NJPW talent. Will MJF do whatever it takes to get out of the match against the “Ace” of NJPW?

Finally, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA laid out an open challenge for Forbidden Door, and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry accepted. With HOOK in his corner, can the son of Luke Perry win New Japan gold?
