Australia Results Tokyo Olympic Games Day 4: Kaylee McKeown's emotional gold, Matildas draw with USA image

Australia's swimmers have produced some iconic moments in the pool on days two and three - and they did the same on day four.

Kaylee McKeown followed on from her record-breaking 12 months by winning gold in the 100m backstroke final.

Jess Fox narrowly missed out on finally adding a gold medal to her Olympic collection.

Plus, Owen Wright won a historic medal in surfing's first Olympic appearance.

Here's a full wrap of Australians competing in events on day four.

Olympic Swimming Results

Olympic Canoe Slalom Results

Jess Fox took out her semifinal with the fastest time on Tuesday afternoon, meaning she would go last in the final.

However, she was only able to take out bronze after two gate touches in her final run.

Fox had the fastest time down the course but two separate two-second penalties added four seconds to her time and pushed her back to third.

If she had avoided just one of those penalties, Fox would have taken home her first Olympic gold medal.

Germany's Ricarda Funk took out the gold medal.

Olympic Surfing Results

Owen Wright claims bronze medal in thrilling final

Aussie Owen Wright has won the inaugural bronze surfing medal at an Olympics after a nail-biting win over Brazil's Gabriel Medina.

Sally Fitzgibbon loses semi-final to Japan’s Amuro Tsuzuki.

Tsuzuki had a slender 0.6 lead over Fitzgibbon before consolidating with a second wave score of 6.60 elevated her score to 13.27.

Unluckily for Fitzgibbon, who worked hard for her score of 11.67, the waves dried up as she ran out of time to regain the lead.

The emotional Aussie said it was one of the hardest losses of her career to swallow.

“It hurts so bad!” she said after the lost semi. “This one probably the toughest loss of my career.
