UPDATE: Two Western Bulldogs in car accident, defender in hospital image

Western Bulldogs Roarke Smith and Kieran Collins have been involved in a car accident on their way to training on Friday morning.

Coach Luke Beveridge confirmed the pair had been in a crash and that Smith had been taken to hospital with a head injury, but said there were no major concerns about their health.

“Roarke Smith and Kieran Collins were involved in a car accident,” coach Luke Beveridge told media on Friday.

“They are both fine, but Roarke won’t play.

“Just turning, the car turning the other way collected them. The early news is they are OK, Roarke has a cut on his head.

“Roarke has been playing some promising footy and we think he has a bright future so it’s a shame this has happened.

“I don’t think he will be staying in hospital for long.”

The defender was finally getting some consistency into his AFL career after a horror run with injury that saw him miss all of 2017 with a ruptured ACL sustained in a pre-season match against Brisbane.

Smith had played the last eight rounds for the Bulldogs after coming back into the team against Collingwood in round 10.
