Report: No Philip Rivers trade talks between Chargers, Titans image

Take those mock drafts that have the Chargers and Titans scheming a deal for the No. 2 overall pick with a grain of salt.

There have been zero talks between the two teams, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Speculation has indicated that San Diego would try to deal quarterback Philip Rivers to Tennessee in exchange for the second overall draft pick, which the Chargers would then use on either Florida State's Jameis Winson or Oregon's Marcus Mariota.

A Chargers team source told the Union-Tribune Thursday that San Diego has not discussed a Rivers trade "at all" with Tennessee and there has been no contact between the two sides.

While Rivers has been noncommittal about his Chargers future and the team sent representatives to Oregon to work out Mariota, general manager Tom Telesco said Wednesday that Rivers will be the team's quarterback "for a long, long, long time."

Rivers reported to the team's offseason training program but is entering the final year of his contract.

"It's our plan and intent that he's our quarterback well into the future," Telesco said, via the Union-Tribune. "In all my discussions with him, he's shown a great amount of respect for his teammates and a great amount of respect for this organization. He's been here every day, working extremely hard, being the leader that he is that we've all come to know. I know he's really excited about this season as are we."
