Conor McGregor has addressed the sexual assault allegations hanging over his head for the first time, emphatically denying the accusations.

McGregor spoke to ESPN's Ariel Helwani over the weekend ahead of his comeback fight with Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246 in Las Vegas.

The former two-weight world champion hasn't fought since a fourth round submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Controversy has followed the Irishman's steps ever since.

He was caught on camera assaulting an elederly man in a pub in Dublin and was arrested in Miami when he broke a fan's phone in an early morning altercation.

There are also sexual assault allegations stemming from two seperate incidents in Ireland over the past 14 months. Neither incident has resulted in a criminal charge, but the rumours persist.

In August last year, McGregor apologised for the assault on the old man in the pub, but addressed the sexual assault allegations for the first time in public this week with Helwani.

"Yes, of course. Yes f**kin' hell Ariel, serious like," McGregor said when asked if he denies the accusations.

"Time, please. Time will reveal all, time will tell all and that's it."

Asked whether the allegations bothered him, McGregor hit back: "would it bother you? There you go.

"Time, time, time. Patience is a skill we must master. It's one of the most valuable skills we must master and I'm working hard to master it.

"Time will show all.

"Right now I'm focused on the bout and thinking good positive thoughts and I'll say a prayer for those who curse me and try and bring harm to me with these kinds of things."

McGregor, who has only fought in the Octagon once in two years, admitted he had gone off the rails, and credited his two kids for getting him back on track.

"My heart is full, they're here with me in Vegas," he said.

"Absolutely amazing, I'm very blessed and what a time for it (having a daughter) to happen for me.

"It was right on the money for me. I needed my kids to help me and they have helped me.

"I'm very, very happy and very proud."

He even said his children helped save his career from completely derailing.

"That's what I'm saying, 100%," he said.

"Right at the time that I needed it the most. I'm very, very happy and very blessed."
