Kiwi UFC fighter Dan 'The Hangman' Hooker has been forced to withdraw from a second fight due to injury, this time pulling out of the co-main event at UFC Texas against Bobby Green.
Hooker has suffered an arm injury, the same arm that he injured earlier in the year in his loss to Jalin Turner.
The UFC is now seeking a last-minute replacement fighter to take on Green in Texas, while Hooker likely faces an extended spell out of the ring.
What injury does Dan Hooker have?
Dan Hooker has suffered a broken arm, the same arm that he previously injured and had surgery on this year, after being struck during a sparring session.
Speaking to the New Zealand Herald, Hooker said that he probably rushed back too soon, having now re-injured the same arm.
"It’s just one of those things. I’ve been kicked a thousand times in the last two months and he just got me on the right spot. It’s broken on the same spot as I broke it last time,” Hooker told the Herald.
“I just didn’t give it enough time to set. It probably didn’t need too much, just another month of lifting weights so it could set, but I just jumped straight into training camp which takes a toll on your body. It slowed down the recovery of the arm, and Bob’s your uncle. It just hadn’t set.”
Who will replace Dan Hooker at UFC Fight Night: Dariush vs. Tsarukyan?
The UFC is yet to replace Hooker in his fight against Green, currently seeking to fill his spot in what was set to be the first five-round non-title fight co-main event on a UFC Fight Night.
The ninth-ranked UFC Lightweight, Hooker will a tough fighter to replace, especially considering the gravitas of the original fight.
When will Dan Hooker fight again?
It is not yet clear when Hooker will fight next; but with his win against Turner where he broke the arm initially coming in July, it will likely be more than six months before he returns to the octagon, considering his comments that he returned too early.
