West Australian Astra Sharma has won her maiden main-draw match at a WTA event, defeating America's Shelby Rogers in Bogota.
Sharma beat the former French Open quarterfinalist 6-3 6-7(6) 6-1 to reach the second round of the Copa Colsanitas Open.
Interrupted due to both rain and darkness, the opening round match extended over two days. The 23-year-old Australian resumed play on Wednesday with a 5-1 lead in the deciding set.

Altogether, the world No.138 defeated the American in 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Sharma will go on to face Poland's Magda Linette in the second round, who defeated Aliona Bolsova 2-6 7-6(5) 6-0 on Wednesday.
The Bogota tournament is just the seventh tour-level event of her career. Until her breakthrough at the 2019 Australian Open, she played most of her matches on the ITF circuit.
Since Sharma won her first-round match over compatriot Priscilla Hon at the Australian Grand Slam, she has jumped from world No.231 to No.138.
She is projected to rise to No.126 after her latest triumph over Rogers.
Sharma has also teamed up with fellow Australian Zoe Hives for the doubles event in Bogota. The pair defeated Conny Perrin and Bibiane Schoofs 7-6(6) 6-0 to reach the semifinals.
