World number one Serena Williams repeated her calls for improvement, despite easing her way into the second round of the Australian Open on Tuesday.
Williams needed a little over an hour on court as she stormed past Belgian youngster Alison Van Uytvanck 6-0 6-4.
The 18-time grand slam winner was dominant on serve, winning 86 per cent of her points and clocking up 11 aces, while she broke Van Uytvanck four times throughout.
But after voicing her disapproval with her form leading into the tournament, Williams remains unhappy ahead of a second-round clash against former world number two Vera Zvonareva.
"I felt okay. As always, I had the jitters going out in the first match of a Grand Slam," Williams said.
"It's never super easy to be the one that everyone wants to beat. So I always have to be a little bit above.
"But, yes I felt okay. I definitely think I can improve a tremendous amount."
Williams – winner of five Australian Open titles – stormed out of the blocks against the 20-year-old on Margaret Court Arena.
She wrapped up the opening set in just 21 minutes, but Van Uytvanck lifted her game in the second to give the fans some value for money.
"I thought she played really well," said Williams. "She has a good serve and a good first stroke, which is really what everyone's doing, a lot of the younger players are doing now.
"So I thought she did that really well."
