Max Purcell age, rank, career titles

At just 25 years old, Purcell has achieved a lot so far in his career.

He put himself on the tennis map in 2016 when he won a Gimcheon Challenger event in South Korea as the world No. 762. Since then, most of his success has come in the doubles arena.

He made his grand slam tournament debut in 2017 after earning a wildcard into the Australian Open men's doubles draw alongside fellow countryman Alex de Minaur. The pair were bundled out in the first round.

Purcell's Australian Open singles debut at Melbourne Park came in 2020, although it was his performance in the doubles draw that created headlines. Partnered with Luke Saville, he reached the final at Melbourne Park but fell one step short of the trophy.

In 2021, he continued to grind away on the singles court. He defeated a top-20 opponent – Gaël Monfils – for the first time at the Eastbourne International before reaching his maiden ATP singles semifinal at the same event. By July of that year, he had cracked the top 200 in the world rankings.

Purcell remained a force in doubles, though. In 2022, he reached the final of the Australian Open again – this time alongside Matthew Ebden. The pair then went all the way at Wimbledon, winning a marathon five-set final against No. 2 seeds Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic.

A split from Ebden followed as Purcell opted to focus on his singles career in 2023. And boy, did that pay off.

He won back-to-back Challenger titles in Chennai and Bengaluru in February before lifting the trophy in Pune in March.

Purcell began 2023 ranked 220 but has finished it as the world No. 45.

He also featured in the main draw at every major last season for the first time in his career.

Max Purcell prize money

Purcell has earned a total of US$2,845,578 (AU$4,231,217) in prize money over his career, according to the ATP.
