Emerson Jones will be one to watch.

The 15-year-old has finished as runner-up in the junior girls’ singles draw at the Australian Open.

She fell to top seed Renáta Jamrichová in the final but has established herself as a potential future Aussie tennis star.

Jones, a Gold Coast native, has enjoyed a stellar run at Melbourne Park in 2024.

Notably, she became the first Australian girl to make it through to the Australian Open youth final since Jessica Moore achieved the feat in 2008.

Jones’ run is hardly surprising though given her strong recent form which saw her clinch the title at the Traralgon Junior International last week, becoming the first Aussie to do so in 24 years.

The Australian Open run completes a dream time for the Jones family with the world no.8’s older brother also going deep in the boys’ youth tournament.

Hayden Jones became the first Australian to progress into the quarter-finals of the boys’ singles tournament since Rinky Hijikata did six years ago.

Although, the 17-year-old was eventually beaten by Jan Kumstat in a two-and-a-half-hour battle on Court 3.
