Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's French Open quarter-final against Kei Nishikori was suspended for 15 minutes after part of the roof on Philippe Chatrier fell on spectators.

The official Twitter account of Roland Garros stated that "a sheet of metal from the scoreboard fell onto members of the public".

Three people sustained minor injuries, but no one is thought to be seriously hurt.

Organisers then secured the area and evacuated some of the spectators sat in the area.

Play eventually resumed with 14th seed Tsonga holding a two-set lead.
