It was a mixed second round across the board for the Australians at the US Open, as Alexei Popyrin and Alex de Minaur advanced while Ajla Tomjlanovic and Jordan Thompson were eliminated.
De Minaur breezed past Cristian Garin in straight sets, and has now booked himself a third round matchup with 7th seed Kei Nishikori.
Popyrin didn't have it so easy in his match against Mikhail Kukushkin however, losing the first set 6-2.

But the 20-year old regained his composure and went on to win the next three sets, and will now face Italian Matteo Berrettini on Sunday.
Berrettini defeated fellow Australian Jordan Thompson in four sets earlier in the day, while Ajla Tomljanovic lost in three sets to Anett Kontaveit 4-6 7-5 6-2.
Rising star Alexander Zverev was challenged but managed to overcome Frances Tiafoe 6-3 3-6 6-2 2-6 6-3 - but the 22-year old didn't seemed too fazed.
"It's usually what I do in the first few rounds of a grand slam, play five sets...maybe it's to entertain the crowd," he said.
"Frances gave me a real fight. I'm just happy to get the win somehow. I know if it goes the distance I am ready.

"I've known Frances since we were little kids, we played each other all through juniors.
"Every match we play is getting tougher and tougher, hopefully that will continue and we will play bigger matches throughout our careers."
Stan Wawrinka and David Goffin were among others to advance - with Nick Kyrgios firing early in his match with Antoine Hoang.
