The final Grand Slam of the year commences at Flushing Meadows on August 28 with a host of stars all vying to take home the coveted US Open title.

The tournament in New York City will take place across two weeks, wrapping up on September 10.

Fresh off his win at Wimbledon in July, young gun Carlos Alcaraz will be looking to defend his crown after beating Casper Ruud last year to become the second-youngest player ever to win a men's US Open title.

It marked the beginning of a changing of the guard with the Spanish star breaking up the monopoly previously held by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who had won 20 of the last 22 Grand Slam titles.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek brushed aside Ons Jabeur in straight sets during the women's singles final to claim her third Grand Slam trophy and cement her spot atop the world rankings at the time.

The Polish star became the first woman since Angelique Kerber to claim two titles in the same calendar year after earlier winning the French Open for the second time.
