John Millman was the name on everyone's lips after the unheralded Australian turned giant slayer to take down Roger Federer in the fourth round of the US Open.
A 12-year veteran on tour, Millman was already enjoying his best season to date, but vindicated his good form with a maiden appearance in the last eight of a Grand Slam.
Millman forced an unquestionably-lethargic Federer into a serve-volley game plan, with the Brisbane-born 29-year-old eventually sealing the win in four sets.
Earlier in the tournament, Millman swept aside Jenson Brooksby, Fabio Fognini and Mikhail Kukushkin to book a spot in the last 16.

Millman needed all the help he could muster from the tennis gods to stand a chance to take down the sport's greatest - but in the end, it was Federer that was calling for help as the Swiss ace slumped to his first defeat to an Australian at a Grand Slam in 19 years.
Regardless, Millman set the benchmark to an all-new personal high after his win over Federer.
He gave it a crack in the quarters against Novak Djokovic, but the Serb was too good in three tough sets.
WHO IS JOHN MILLMAN?
Born in Brisbane, Millman turned pro in 2006.
It has been a rocky road for the Queenslander - several injuries and surgeries, including a 2013 shoulder reconstruction and groin surgery in 2017, have kept him off the court at times.
In 2018, though, his luck has turned - he made his first ATP Final in Budapest, and has won two challenger titles.
In July, he cracked the top 50 ATP rankings for the first time, and rose to a career-high ranking of world No. 49.
He has represented Australia on the Davis Cup and Olympic teams - he has Olympic rings tattooed on the inside of his right bicep to mark his appearance at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
