Unpredictable Australian Nick Kyrgios is on a collision course with second seed Roger Federer while Novak Djokovic could await either man in the quarter-final after the US Open draw was revealed on Friday morning (AEST).
Kyrgios, seeded 30th, will open his campaign against Radu Albot of Moldova and could play Federer in a third-round blockbuster.
Djokovic and Federer met in the final of the Cincinnati Open on Sunday, their first match in two and a half years, and one which Djokovic won in straight sets to become the first man to claim all nine Masters 1000 titles.
Five-time champion Federer, seeded second, is aiming to become the most successful man at Flushing Meadows in the Open era, a record he currently holds alongside Jimmy Connors and Pete Sampras.

As for the other Australians, Ashleigh Barty will face a qualifier in the opening round and could face 12th seed Garbine Muguruza in the third round.
Daria Gavrilova matches up against Spaniard Srribes Tormo with a tough road ahead including potential meetings with Victoria Azarenko and defending champion Sloane Stephens.
Sam Stosur has to overcome second seed Caroline Wozniacki in her first hurdle.
In the men's, James Duckworth faces Andy Murray, Jordan Thompson will play Brit Cameron Norrie, John Millman comes up against US teen Jenson Brooksby, Alex de Minaur faces Japan’s Taro Daniel and Jason Kubler faces 19th seed Roberto Bautista Agut,
The Swiss starts against Yoshihito Nishioka and could take on Kyrgios at the end of the first week, while sixth seed and two-time champion Djokovic opens up with a match against Marton Fucsovics.
Top seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal will begin against compatriot David Ferrer, which would be comfortably the pick of the first-round ties had wildcard Stan Wawrinka not been paired with eighth seed Grigor Dimitrov.

The Bulgarian will be out for revenge after Wawrinka dumped him out at the same stage of Wimbledon earlier this year.
