Laver Cup 2021: Date, format, teams, venue for Team Europe vs Team World image

After it was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Laver Cup will return this September, pitting the best players from Europe against the best players from the rest of the world.

Three editions of the tournament have taken place in the past, with Team Europe winning all three.

Australia's own Nick Kyrgios will again be a part of Team World, having competed in all other tournaments in 2017, 2018 and 2019. 

Here's everything you need to know about the 2021 Laver Cup. 

WHAT IS THE LAVER CUP?

The Laver Cup is a two-team tournament, played over three days. It is designed to be tennis' version of the Ryder Cup. 

Each team will have six players, and the tournament will feature nine singles games and three doubles games.

A win on the first day is worth one point, each win on the second day will be worth two points, and wins on the final day are worth three points. 

The first team to reach 13 points wins the tournament. 

WHEN IS THE 2021 LAVER CUP?

This year's Laver Cup will run from September 24th to September 26th.

The tournament will emanate from Boston, USA.

This year's Laver Cup will take place at TD Garden in Boston, USA.

The tournament will begin on September 24th and run through until September 26th. 

2021 LAVER CUP TEAMS

Each team will have six players and a captain.

Team Europe will be captained by Bjorn Borg and will feature six players in the ATP top 10 rankings, including US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.

Team World will be captained by John McEnroe and will featuure Australia's Nick Kyrgios as well as players from Canada, USA and Argentina.
